Live lovely outside

Having spent most of my life above the Mason-Dixon Line, when the white stuff melts

and the green stuff sprouts, I'm outta there—meaning I spend every moment I can with

the doors and window flung open and my toes touching the Earth. Extending your living

space by surrounding yourself with chirping birds, butterflies, and flowers will change

your life. I treat patios and porches as extensions of the interior, beautifully designed, and with total living and comfort, front and center.

Whether you're planning to unwind after a long day, soak up the sun on a lazy weekend,

or host unforgettable gatherings with loved ones, having a comfortable outdoor space

makes all the difference. Get inspired! Take a look at this design board I created for a client. Feel free to request the shoppable board with links to all the products at Bridget@williamandbailey.com.

Outdoor design tips:

Comfort

Imagine sinking into a plush, cushioned chair that embraces you like a warm hug or

lounging on a cozy sofa that cradles your body while you immerse yourself in a good

book.

Do you dream of wine nights under the stars with your besties? Nothing will kill the vibe more than butts on uncomfortable furniture!

Durability

Durability and weather-resistant materials are important factors to consider. Opting for high-

quality materials that withstand the elements ensure your outdoor furniture remains in

top-notch condition. Performance fabrics such as Sunbrella are essential to avoid stains,

mildew, and fading. Also, consider teak wood or materials made to withstand the

elements.

Color and Texture

Pillows and cushions add pops of color and texture to balance out hard surfaces. Rugs made to endure outdoor elements can define spaces such as lounging and dining (and can be hosed off!).

Dining and Entertaining

I often use melamine dinnerware, plastic glasses (no breaks!), and matching table

linens to bring the vibe together.

Set the Mood

Use a beautiful pendant or string lights (rated for the outdoors) if you have a covered porch. A fire table or fire pit will improve the ambiance and coziness factor.

So, whether you're sipping morning coffee, enjoying a barbecue with friends, or

stargazing under a clear night sky, choose outdoor furniture and accessories that will

weather the storm and invite you to linger, unwind, and create unforgettable memories.

Treat your outdoor space as an extension of your home, not an afterthought.
